Jeremy Hunt presents his first Spring Statement on 15th March. He will be doing so against a background of a worsening economic picture, with the UK economy mired in a low growth trajectory, threatening to fall yet further behind our main competitors. Mr Hunt has a fine line to tread, the economy is crying out for policies that will stimulate growth but Mr Hunt needs to keep a firm eye on inflation – and the next election is really only just around the corner. Our session will look at the immediate implications of Mr Hunt’s fiscal plans and consider their likely longer-term influence on the economic health of the nation.
