Norfolk and Waveney Mind

Norfolk and Waveney Mind is a local Mind mental health charity offering an extensive range of mental health services, along with associated training, advice and information.

Our ambition is to ensure that one should have to face poor mental health alone and with the right support and resources anybody can create a life that feels meaningful

We offer support services, ranging from personal development courses and suicide bereavement sessions to physical activity and gardening groups. We provide 1:1 talking therapies, counselling, residential care and access to employment services and provide mental health training and education for businesses, schools and individuals.

We also work in our communities to raise awareness and challenge sigma and discrimination.  Our services support young people aged 14-25, adults and carers affected by mental ill health.

We have recently launched REST, a community space that welcomes everyone.  REST stands for Recover, Eat, Support, and Talk, reflecting some of the key ways we are able to engage with people, and help them to engage with each other, to promote better mental health for all.

People can be referred to access a personalised package of support which will promote empowerment and self-care, reduce social isolation and focus on wellness rather than illness.

REST launched in December 2020 with a digital platform at restnorwich.co.uk. The second phase of development, due to be finished in 2021, will see REST in its physical space at Churchman House, a Grade 1 listed building in Norwich city centre.

The building will host a daytime community hub, an Intensive Support Package, evening crisis service, and a wellbeing café run by social enterprise The Feed, along with events, community activities, and guest workshops.

With over one in four people experiencing a mental health problem and 104 people choosing to take their own lives each week in the UK, the need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital.

As a local Mind, we are independent charity – we raise our own funds, and we have our own Board of Trustees who are responsible for how we’re run.

Being local we understand our community and tailor our services in response to what people need most.

Being part of the Mind network means we benefit from shared support, knowledge and ideas. Nationally, Mind gives advice and support to anyone who needs it, campaigns to improve services and raise awareness.

We work in partnership with Mind nationally and the other local Minds in our network to deliver high quality services to anyone who needs them.
