Reasons for employers to take part: Developing a cost-effective recruitment pipeline of talent for entry-level jobs

  • Building the skills and capacity of your business
  • Having extra resources for day-to-day projects
  • Making a more diverse and creative workforce
  • Giving your staff the opportunity to upskill in coaching and mentoring people
  • Providing a positive experience for a local young person

Co-design of the curriculum:

Work alongside our teachers to co-design the curriculum to ensure it is sequenced and delivered accordingly to ensure students are getting the best experience and knowledge/skills required for industry.

Employability Workshop Reviews

The Advice & Guidance team design sessions around employability and progression which are used within the curriculum at various times of the year. These sessions are reviewed annually and it would be really beneficial to have some employer input during these reviews to ensure that the sessions are relevant to today’s employer requirements. This could be in the form of focus groups or 1:1 sessions and would help the students develop the skills required to engage with business’ within the local community.

In 2016 the college celebrated 125 years of providing its local community and the employers of Norfolk with excellence in vocational education and training, including apprenticeships, as well as academic, professional and higher education courses.  Today the college has over 10,000 full- and part-time students.  Rated as Good by Ofsted, City College Norwich provides excellent preparation for students’ career development and progression – including a strong focus on entrepreneurial skills as a founder member of the Gazelle Group of Colleges.

The College’s main campus is on Ipswich Road, just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre, and has benefitted from substantial investment in new buildings and facilities in recent years, including its innovative StartUp Lounge, a Creative Arts Building, and the development of a green heart to the campus-based around Broadland Drive. The Ipswich Road site is also home to its fine-dining Debut Restaurant, Solutions Hair and Beauty Salons, Platform Theatre and a gym, which are all open to the public.  The College’s higher education students are based at Norfolk House in the centre of Norwich.
