Bookings for this date have now closed but please see alternative dates below to book on one of our other dates. Many of you have told us that you cannot wait to get back to meeting people face-to-face again and we have listened. We are working on a series of small, social distanced in person networking events*, where you can get outside and start meeting new people in real life! This is the first of (hopefully) many exclusive networking events and with your wellbeing being so important than ever before, what better way to give it a boost than by learning a new sport (paddleboarding), networking with fellow business professionals on the Norfolk Boards and interacting in a fun way. Setting off from Horning, Boards on the Broads is an in-person networking event that is good for you, good for your business and good for local charity. All proceeds that are raised from these fun networking sessions with a difference will be donated to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
Who’s it for?
Business owners, managers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, young businesses and anyone who wants to connect and engage with other businesses in the Norfolk area.
Cancellation policy
We only have a maximum of six places on this event. As all funds are being donated to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices we won’t be able to offer you a refund but can move your booking onto one of the other dates. Please notify us if you are no longer able to attend in writing to hello@norfolkchambers.co.uk

A love of the water, a chilled sundowner and a good old natter is what brought Liz and Katie together and has helped shape what Go Paddle is all about. Their paths to getting here have been wildly different but getting to meet new folk and share the pretty awesome Norfolk Broads by paddle is now what they do best.
What to wear
• As a general rule we say to dress for the weather. Quick drying clothes are the best (and avoid cottons/jeans as they can be uncomfortable when wet) If its chilly we have a small selection of wetsuits for hire. If you have your own wetsuit/rash vests – then bring them. • For your feet we suggest old footwear (ideally flip flops) to wear on the riverside.
*We are doing everything we can to bring you this event in June by following government COVID guidelines. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic we may have to cancel this event at short notice if circumstances arise that are out of our control. Please also note that this event will be postponed should we have extremely bad weather conditions which will make this activity unsafe.

Meet the Trainer Julie Francis
Founder of Elite Speaking Coach, Julie brings over 20 years’ experience leading in high-performance environments as a Speaker, Performer, and Manager across the cruise industry, live events, and leadership development.
Her work now focuses on helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders develop powerful communication, unshakable confidence, and authentic, human-first leadership.
My journey on this subject is a personal one, life took a profound turn after surviving a traumatic attack that permanently changed her facial appearance and cost me my representation in the entertainment industry. Dropped by my agent because my face no longer “fit” society’s aesthetic expectations, she disappeared from the stage for over three years while undergoing multiple surgeries and rebuilding from the inside out.
Today, Julie returns with a mission: to redefine what confidence really looks like. I will share my exact tools I used to rise again and the insights gained from working alongside top global leaders. The message is clear and powerful one I hope you resonate with.
“Confidence isn’t about how you’re seen. It’s about how you choose to show up.”
This workshop isn’t just theory—it’s lived experience, applied psychology, and transformational learning led by someone who’s had to rebuild her voice, identity, and presence from the ground up.
Eligibility: These small group in-person workshops are open to any trading business, freelancer, or charity based in North Norfolk, Great Yarmouth, West Norfolk & King’s Lynn, Norfolk, UK. Come and watch 4 short documentaries about the scientists who work there and their world changing businesses.
Cinema City, 4:15pm Wednesday 3rd Sep
I’m inviting you to a special screening at Cinema City, Norwich, on Wednesday 3rd September at 4.15pm, showcasing four inspiring short science documentaries created by young people from Norfolk and Suffolk, together with a Q&A session with the contributors.
We would be delighted if you could circulate this invitation with your colleagues, to join us to celebrate these young filmmakers’ achievements and the exciting research taking place in our region.
These films are the result of the STEM Film Academy, a unique initiative run by Eye Film in partnership with Cinema City, Norwich Research Park and the Sir John Hurt Film Trust, with support from the Hornsea 3 Community Fund.
Over an intensive week this summer, participants aged 16–24 trained in documentary filmmaking and explored breakthrough research at the Norwich Research Park, interviewing leading scientists and entrepreneurs. We met Rory from Alora, whose goal is to end world hunger by growing a new rice variant in the sea, Deba from Colorifix explaining how they grow colour from insects, plants and animals, Cristina from Tropic who have developed a non-browning banana and Mia, Melissa and Edyta from the Earlham Institute. Three scientists using biotechnological approaches to research plant, animal and human health.
The films tell human stories behind cutting-edge work in climate change, food, health, and biotechnology and highlight the creativity and talent of the next generation of filmmakers.
