Remote working has become far more common during the pandemic. There are hints that working completely or mostly from home will become the ‘new normal’ in some organisations. Workers are trying to establish what this means for them on an individual basis – for example, around motivation and work-life balance. Managers have a role to play in helping them find a balance that works for both workers and the business. Researchers from the University of East Anglia have brought together pieces of evidence to share with you in a handy management checklist, focused on improving the wellbeing and productivity of your workforce.
This webinar will cover:

About the Speaker
Dr Helen Fitzhugh, Senior Research Associate and Knowledge Exchange Fellow at University of East Anglia.
Dr Helen Fitzhugh of Norwich Business School is passionate about organisations and research communication. She gathers the best academic evidence she can find on workplace wellbeing and productivity and then distils it down into practical information and resources for organisations as part of a project called the PrOPEL Hub. She draws upon work by researchers at the University of East Anglia who have been researching in this area for decades. Helen has worked across the public, private and voluntary sectors, so bring with her an understanding of how to adapt complex research findings so that they make sense to real-life workers and managers in a variety of different settings.

John Gostling Running a business is hard….harder when you don’t have much experience of running a business! 6 years ago I joined Breakwater IT as a Systems Engineer, I quickly realised there was so much potential that had yet to be tapped into, and every day since then my focus has been on releasing this, creating a better company to work with, and to work for. It’s been a constantly evolving journey, 2 steps forward, one step back (sometimes two!), but things are finally starting to fall into place. This is a very open self-appraisal of the how we have transformed a loss making company into one that turns a profit and is currently growing at 20% year on year.Crack the motivation code!
Cassandra Andrews Imagine if you knew precisely what motivated each member of your team, how motivated they were and what you could do to improve their motivation! Cassandra Andrews interactive workshop focuses on motivation in the workplace and introduces ‘motivational maps’, an incredibly accurate and user-friendly tool which enables us to unlock and measure employee motivation. Understanding exactly what motivates individuals in an organisation can be used with significant impact to support business growth and profitability by maximising employee and team motivation, retain employees and recruit the right people to complement existing teams. At the workshop you will discover how to create high performing teams by learning:Developing an app to promote emotional resilience
UEA Since summer 2017, Dr Laura Biggart and Dr Kamena Henshaw, from the School of Psychology, have been working with UEA computer science students and Steve Jones and Adam Ziolkowski from JoziTech to develop a student support app. Currently the app is focused on supporting students’ transition into Higher Education. In this session we will talk about the development of the app, the research background to the features, and the feedback since our launch in September 2018. We will conclude with a discussion of our future plans, including evaluation of the app and our plans to work with other organisations to develop bespoke OpenUp appsDon’t fall over like Elon Musk did – How to stay energised and disrupt an industry
Ian Hacon Elon Musk is one of the most famous workaholic cases in recent years. So much so, many others quoted him as a badge of honour when they too worked too hard. In 2018, his wheel fell off, forced to take a total break due to exhaustion. This session will help you understand how looking after your own energy is good for business and you will leave with some easily implementable steps to do so.Orchestrated Mobility – Changing The Way We Move
John Fagan By late 2030, its predicted that 95% U.S. passenger miles travelled will be served by on-demand vehicles owned by fleets, not individuals, in a new business model Transport-as-a-Service (TaaS). Citizens will pay a monthly fee to go anywhere they wish, much like we do today using on demand services for music and video, like Spotify and Netflix. TaaS will unify public, private & autonomous transportation into an efficient service and is predicted to deliver a largely carbon-free road transportation system. In this talk i will…Harnessing the power of subscription technology
Juliana Meyer Thousands of professionals are discovering ways to transform the way they work and the way they earn a living. Leveraging the skills we each have, the talk uncovers how anyone can can build their own subscription business using the knowledge and talents they already have. I’ll go deep into the steps needed, opportunities available, the how and why, and what has worked and not worked for others. This has already been a game changer for others who learnt this from my previous talks which then transformed their lives, their living, and their opportunities. Given the key trends of subscription, technology and self-education, I’ll explore and explain how anyone can successfully launch their own apps from home to generate a passive income and lift the lid on exchanging time for money.A 4-hour non-regulated Fire Marshal Training course. About the event
The team at Tiger Eye proudly invite the businesses of East Anglia to ‘take a walk on the wild side’ and join them for Tiger Trek – raising funds for The Benjamin Foundation through ‘netwalking’ across the Norfolk Coast, from Hunstanton to Cromer.
With corporate teams of up to four participants welcome from each company, we welcome businesses to ‘walk the walk and talk the talk’ with us, for either one, two or three days of their 3-day trek. We hope that the event will inspire local businesses to stretch their legs and restart their fitness regimes, as part of a unique opportunity to network, discuss and engage with local businesses every step of the way.
Whether you are up to the challenge of three full days of walking, or whether you just fancy coming along for one day, we invite you to join us in walking, networking and raising vital funds for The Benjamin Foundation – Norfolk and Suffolk’s charity against youth homelessness, bullying and abuse.
Experience seaside towns and villages, tidal marshes teeming with wildlife, beaches, woodlands and huge skies, all whilst networking with local businesses as you walk. We are keen to welcome as many teams as we can to the event, so please feel free to discuss the event prior to booking with us.
‘The Norfolk Coast Path is excited to welcome the Tiger Eye Team and everyone involved in Tiger Trek, for a weekend of sand dunes, salt marsh and sea air. Along the way, Trekkers can enjoy the great local produce available from the fantastic cafes, pubs and delis that line the path.’ – Jack Davidson, Trail Officer for the Norfolk Coast Path.
Chris Elliott, Marketing Manager at The Benjamin Foundation stated: “We are delighted that Tiger Eye staff have chosen to support our charity in 2019, which is our 25th anniversary year. With their three-day walk they are truly going the extra mile and the funds raised will help us make a positive difference to many more local young people.”
Please note that booking is essential and will close at 6pm on 1st April 2019. If you have any queries about Tiger Trek, please contact Georgina (at georginar@tigereyeconsulting.com) who would be more than happy to help.

The morning event will include:
Video is taking over, in fact by 2019 it is predicted 80% of all internet traffic will be video, so if you’re not already using it you’re in danger of getting left behind. In an age where everyone is capable of creating their own material, video content faces enormous competition to stand out from the crowd.
To shed some light on this powerful marketing tool, the Chamber is delighted to welcome Charlie Gauvain from Eye Film, to our Norwich Business Breakfast who will explain how to develop a bespoke and compelling video strategy that’s right for your business. Charlie will suggest how you can sharpen your own video production, or when the right time is to consult a professional, so that you can ensure your video content is engaging, exciting and generates a return on your investment.
Charlie is the MD at Eye Film, and has produced over 100 hours of television and online content. He was spotted by the founder of Eye film Frank Prendergast in 1998, having already established himself with production credentials on huge films such as Independence Day. Since then, Charlie has produced video content for C4, ITV, BBC and Animal Planet and has represented the East on The Producers Alliance of Cinema and Television’s Board (PACT). Since 2000, the company has been BAFTA nominated, won three creative industry awards and a Royal Television Society award and worked with the likes of David Attenborough.
Coming from the documentary industry, he knows how to produce the most beautifully shot, engaging content that can make the difference between having material that resonates with consumers and gets shared and talked about to being lost in the noisy world of digital media.
This breakfast event is perfect for businesses looking to broaden their network contacts. Come along to hear about how you can enhance your promotional video presence, whilst at the same time experience the ultimate networking experience at Caistor Hall. A full English breakfast will be provided (along with a continental option) and you can make those important connections with some of Norfolk’s biggest names in business.
