This isn’t another generic business event full of theory you’ll never use. This is a focused, practical half-day designed specifically for business owners, and those thinking of starting a business, who are ready to work smarter and grow strategically in 2026.
You’ll hear from expert speakers who understand the realities of running their own business. They’ll share practical insights on topics such as video marketing, productivity systems and sustainable business growth – the foundations that actually make a difference to your bottom line.
What to expect:
This event is all about cutting through the noise and focusing on what really matters. Whether you’re planning your biggest year yet or just trying to get your business started, you’ll leave with a clearer sense of direction and the confidence to make 2026 your year.
Session details (time for Q&A is included after each speaker):
10.30-11.15 – Adam Thacker, hapiflow
Adam will tell you all about how to make work easier, smoother, and a little less chaotic. He will explore how small, practical changes, from clearer processes to smarter use of digital tools, can save time, reduce stress, and help teams work better together.
There is no jargon, no complex theory, and no one-size-fits-all solution. Just straightforward ideas that any business can adapt to fit how they already work.
Adam will look at how to spot what is slowing things down, how to simplify the way tasks are done, and how technology can support people rather than complicate their day.
11.15-12.00 – Kami Robinson, Bold Creatures
Kami will show you when and why video outperforms photos or text, and how to use it to communicate your brand’s story with impact.
From documentary-style storytelling to social snippets and YouTube strategy, Kami will dive into practical, budget-friendly ways to create powerful videos, using tools as simple as your phone or a DJI Pocket 3.
She will wrap up by exploring the statistics and analytics that show your video efforts are truly paying off.
Whether you’re a small business owner or a growing brand, this talk will leave you ready to use video more intentionally, creatively, and effectively.
12.00-12.45 – Kathy Ennis, LittlePiggy
You’ve got the tools. You’ve got the content. You’re working flat out. So why does growth feel so hard?
Kathy will use her session to cut through the noise to show you what really drives sustainable business growth, and it’s not just posting more or finding the perfect productivity hack.
She will look at the foundations that need to be in place first: knowing exactly who you’re serving and what they actually want, pricing for profit (not just to compete), and building a product staircase that works for you as well as your customers.
You’ll discover why doing it all yourself isn’t a badge of honour, it’s often what’s holding you back!
Whether you’re a product creator or service provider, Kathy will help you recognise where you’re stuck, what needs fixing first, and when it’s time to stop going it alone.
12.45-13.15 – Networking break with light refreshments
13.15-14.15 – Mini mentoring
In this session, Adam, Kami and Kathy will be giving their insights on four pre-submitted questions (We will be gathering questions throughout the day).

Best Employers is a platform to develop and showcase the Eastern Region’s fantastic employers. Employee engagement is a constant journey and Best Employers is here to support you and your organisation. Together we can highlight the East of England as a great place to live and work.
If that’s true and you’re not already part of the Best Employers Programme for 2021 then why not?
What is Best Employers? Best Employers starts with an employee survey to help understand and measure your organisations employee engagement.
It helps you to gain clarity on how and where to focus and to know what is working well and is appreciated by your team.
Benefit of being part of the Programme In addition, there is a programme of virtual events and webinars, gaining access to the latest engagement content and access to inspiring leaders and speakers.
Each organisation receives a tailored report summarising the findings of the survey and an action plan with opportunities for further development. In addition, you can access valuable benchmark data, enabling a comparison to other organisations in the region.
Get the recognition that you deserve! Top performing organisations will receive Best Employer awards, presented in the autumn.
The winners are selected based on the employee feedback from the survey – so staff effectively vote for their organisation to win by sharing their experiences of what it is really like to work there.
Organisations in the top quartile will be invited to apply for accreditations by submitting supporting evidence which is judged by a panel of advisers alongside the engagement scores from the survey.

Our final event of the year will be informal and festive. Drop in between 2-4pm for hot chocolate, mince pies and some relaxed networking.
The final Food for Thought event of 2022 will be at our Waterloo Park venue and take place in the main café rather than the upstairs community room.
We will keep this one informal so it’s a chance to network while enjoying a hot chocolate, mince pie or any other hot drink or homemade cake available.
At 3pm our CEO Lucy Parish will give a short update so be there then if you’d like to hear it.
